What others are saying
About
Six Positions
"Quan
is in top form with Six Positions. His characters breathe sexual desire the way
humans inhale life; his poetic voice provides a scope in which one can fall
adrift and lose sight of the world around oneself" – Andrew Wolter, X
Factor
"It's a
rare slice of erotica that can prod the reader to examine political and social
issues while remaining hotÉ Quan employs a knowing joy with writings mysterious
but not intractable, hot but not humid." – Tom Cardamone, Clean
Sheets
"[A]n
intriguing, engrossing, and often eloquent read about one man's experiences,
fantasies, and observations as an outsider in an outsider community" –
Michael Cornelius, Bloomsbury Review
"I
defy anyone to read the poetic "First Draft" by Andy Quan... and not
marvel at what erotica can be in the hands of a blue-chip writer at the top of
his game." - Michael Rowe, editor, Best Gay Erotica 2003
"a
heady mix, funny and clever at times, then poignant and sad, ironic and witty"
- Brett Josef Grubusic, Xtra West
About
Calendar Boy
"Not
one flat tone, this book, but a symphony of cultures, gay and Asian, and of
communities, Canadian and global, and of emotions, longing and lusty." –
Lambda Book Review
"The
sixteen short stories that make up Calendar Boy are perfect creations unto
themselves" – Capital Xtra
"Quan
writes with a muscular adaptability - an exciting book" – Sydney Scope
Magazine
"If you
like sharp and clever writing, with a cross-cultural gay perspective, Quan is
your man" – the Weekend Australian
"The
stories in Calendar Boy are smart and sexy – with lucidity and insight,
they articulate moments of desire, pleasure, pain and self-awareness." –
Kerry Sakamoto (The Electrical Field)
About
Slant:
"Honest and
elegant, his book understand distance even as it makes whole that which has
been torn apart." – Larissa Lai
"Quan writes
with an enticing style whose conversational simplicity blossoms smoothly into
intricate, evocative imagery; the result is poetry both musical and highly
visual." – Lambda Book Review
"Quan's writing
is rich with metaphorical images and an awareness of, and passion for, the
language itself." – Lavender Rhinoceros
"Slant launches the career of a poet
whose trajectory is assured glitter" – John Barton
